MEREDITH — A United States Postal Service mail truck caught fire in Meredith on Friday morning, destroying both the vehicle and a “considerable” amount of mail still inside. The driver was able to exit the vehicle and was not injured, according to Meredith Fire Chief Ken Jones.

Engine 24 is back in quarters after responding to this US Postal Truck Fire on Vincent Cir in Mechanicsville. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and requested the Sheriff’s Office due to the vehicle being in motion when the fire started. Driver was out on arrival. No injuries reported.
On July 14, at approximately 3:49 PM, the Mason City Fire Department was dispatched for the report of a truck that exploded at 126 Winnebago Way. Fire crews arrived and found a US Postal Service delivery truck on fire.
When crews arrived, the fire was being controlled with a fire extinguisher by firefighters that were passing by. No mail or packages were burned or damaged and there were no injuries, according to the Great Barrington Fire Department.
